Lately, there seems to be a whisk more of optimism here in Madrid as new restaurants are opening their doors for business and they deserve a visit. Tucked away just off Príncipe de Vergara, on Espartina 6 you will find Taberna Verdejo which opened a mere three months ago. Its nature-based decoration with a white, green and wood color scheme radiates a homey, soothing feel helping customers feel right at home from the first day but of course Carmen Moragrega and Marian Reguera are the heart of the tavern. Always with a smile on their face and a kind word, they eagerly help you through the menu.
Verdejo is an unpretentious tavern with excellent produce and a carefully selected wine list with dishes which are easy to share. They serve a wonderful weekday lunch menu for 14 euros which consists of a starter, main course, dessert and a glass to drink. I can tell you that my husband is tickled pink of having it so close to his office.
Congratulations to both of them for such a great start!
